On January 14th Landon was running a fever of 103. The next day I picked him up from daycare and he had a rash on his legs. The following day the rash had spread to his arms. I then took him to the pediatrician's office and he tested postivie for Scarlatina Strep, also called scarlet fever, a disease caused by infection with group A streptococcal bacteria that occurs in a small proportion of people with strep throat. The strep bacteria produces a toxin that causes a rash that appears 1 to 2 days after the onset of illness. Treated with Amoxicillin.
