Christmas Eve

After church on Christmas Eve Landon opened hist first present. Opening one present Christmas Eve is a tradition with the "Sell" Family so I wanted to pass along the tradition. Jeff and I got him a couple of big boy toys to where he can stand up and play with because he is getting bored with the "baby" toys.

Firsts

Landon has had several "firsts" this month. His first word "mama"! Sorry Daddy!! No more belling crawling, it's all four's baby! Pulling himself up on furniture like it's no big deal. He can even hold on with one hand : )  He will waive every once in a while and lastly, I dropped him off at daycare on Friday and he turned away from his teacher with a pitiful expression on his face. Oh and he now has 2 teeth! He is definitely gaining some independence.

 

 

Visit with Santa

Jeff and I took Landon to go see Santa at NorthPark. We got there at 11 am on Saturday and very few people were in line. We were excited! As we were waiting a gentleman comes up to us and hands us a number (197) and told us to come back that night at 7 and that's if Santa gets to us! What?!?! I was so disappointed..........so I ended up at Colin Creek. I have to say my baby is pretty darn cute!

Landon was doing good the first couple of weeks in November then a week before Thanksgiving it went downhill. He started showing signs of rapid, shallow breathing, a rapid heartbeat, retractions, signs of fatigue, loss of appetite and vomiting after coughing.

On December 5th Landon was admitted to the emergency room. His oxygen started getting dangerously low. Try keeping an oxygen mask on a baby!! It doesn't work that well! He was given an hour long treatment and then we were sent to the 3rd floor for monitoring. During the night the nurse comes in frantically to remove the IV from Landon's arm. Apparently it was cutting the circulation off and his poor arm was blue and swollen! I felt terrible because I didn't even notice. Probable from lack of sleep!

Morning comes along, the nurse runs a couple of tests and another x-ray.The doctor wasn't sure if it was RSV, bronchiliar or whooping cough. The tests came back negative for RSV and whooping cough. So now the diagnoses is bronchilitas along with 2 ear infections.

Bronchiolitis is a common illness of the respiratory tract caused by an infection that affects the tiny airways, called the bronchioles, that lead to the lungs. As these airways become inflamed, they swell and fill with mucus, making breathing difficult. It most often affects infants and young children and typically occurs during the first 2 years of life, with peak occurrence at about 3 to 6 months of age.

On December 16th, his breathing finally got back to normal and he no longer had musus blockage. But just this past Monday he has had some slight wheezing and showing signs of a cold. When is this kid ever going to get a break!

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving at Great Aunt Margies and Uncle Vics house in Dallas. Having Thanksgiving at their home has been a long long family tradition. I'm glad I get to introduce Landon to.

Last minute dinner my Dad put together. Try getting a table for 15! Good thing we called in advance.



Bath Time

Landon just loves bath time. He is definetley not scared of the water. Next year he will be ready for pool time at Nana and Pawpa's house.

To my surprise..........

I was at Church Saturday evening and saw something white in Landon's mouth and yes it's his first bottom tooth. I was so excited and had no one to tell so I turned behind me to this little old lady and told her. She was just as excited. Yeah Landon!!

1st Halloween...My Pea in a Pod

7 Months

I can't believe how fast the last sevon months have gone. As soon as Christmas is over I will be planning his 1st birthday! I will catch myself starring at him in disbelief that he is mine, he is a part of me! He truly gives me goose pimples.

He is such a people person and a flirt! At church, we sit in the very back pew and he loves to watch the people come in. He's becoming such an attraction. The older ladies just adore him. He is more and more eager to communicate with strangers. I will see him smiling at people when were out and about. He is also fascinated with his reflection and games like peek-a-boo, where people or his favorite toy disappear and reappear. He is growing stronger each week. I can see evidence of this not only in his crawling, but when I attempt to do something he is opposed to, like putting him in his car seat, changing his diaper or putting on his clothes. Lately, it has taken Jeff and me to change his dipper and put clothes on. He has become the wiggle worm. I also notice that he is becoming more emotionally in touch with the people around him; laughing when other people laugh. His laugh is just greatness!

Landon is eating well. He's at four 8 oz bottles a day and he's eating baby food at lunch and dinner. He hasn't gained much weight and his pediatrician won't show concern until 9 months. He is sitting up by himself and army crawling. If Landon could have it is his way he'd rather be walking than crawling. He has strong legs and is grabbing everything in sight. Forget playing with toys he'd rather play with the tag on his stuffed giraffe and play mat.

He hasn't had any relief from being sick. His pediatrician and pulmonary specialist say that he probably has asthma (since I had it and it is hereditary) and allergies. He is too young to have allergies but there are many irritants that could be bothering him. The pediatrician recommended we take him out of day school to build his immune system and to try and eliminate what is making him sick. I kept him out for about 3 weeks but I was unable to find a nanny. So unfortunately I had to put him back in day school and 2 days later Landon came down with a virus and still hasn't been able to shake it. His current medications are Advair puffer, Xopenex puffer, Zopenex nebulizer solution and Zyrtec. Hopefully we can get this under control before the winter months come.

This past Sunday Melissa was able to squeeze us in for our first family pictures out at Dallas Baptist University. The grounds are beautiful. Melissa did such a great job (as always)! I've posted a few, hope you enjoy.



6 Month Pictures

2 Month Checkup

Landon had his 2 month checkup last Thursday which  included a set of shots. Jeff and I were in the waiting room when a nurse called back a 4 month old girl who was getting her shots. Just a few minutes later you hear her screaming. I'm thinking to myself "Oh Lord I am not ready!". When we finally made it back into a room I had a talk with Landon telling him he's going to be a good boy and not to cry because he will make mommy cry. The nurse comes in and as shes laying the needles on the bed I cover Landon's face (like he can see whats going on). The first shot goes in. Landon screams and his face turns bright red! With tears in my eyes I'm soothing his face, telling him it's going to be okay and then he calms down. What a brave little boy. I love him sooo much!

Landon's Growth

11 pounds 9 ounces (25th percentile)

The past few weeks Landon's starting to coo and trying to talk to us. He sleeps anywhere from 6-8 hrs a night. Naps pretty much in the morning and is very alert in the afternoons. Eating 4 ounces of milk. Very good head and leg strength. Trying very hard to roll over.

Memorial Weekend

Jeff, Landon and I went down to San Antonio Friday night to visit Aunt Kelly, Uncle Andy and Cousin Drew. The next morning we packed the car and headed down to Corpus to visit Mom and Dad. Landon did really well on his first road trip.

We all went to the beach Sunday and Landon stayed with Nana and Pawpa for some quality time.

My First Mother's Day

What a feeling it is to experience my first Mother's Day. Needless to say it was an emotional day. I now know what the joys of being a mother feels like. I'm just so happy!!! I woke up to a surprise waiting for me. Landon got me a neckless with a key on it (with Dad's help) letting me know it's a key to my heart and a lovely plant arrangement. We all went to church Sunday morning and come to find out Father Cloherty who has been at All Saints for the past 12 years has now been assigned to Prince of Peace in Plano and Bishop Seitz will be coming over from St. Rita's. We are sadened to see Father Cloherty go but we welcome Bishop Seitz. Anyways, we spent the rest of the afternoon resting. Landon and I took a nap for 3 hours! It was much needed after the long day we had on Saturday.
